Built in 1974 the award-winning Cummins Mid-Range Engine Plant design by Roche Dinkeloo and Associates featured Employee and Visitor Parking on the roof of the plant. After 40 years of weather, salt, and non-stop maintenance, it was evident that the parking must be removed from the roof to prolong the life of the building. MNA studied, located, and designed a 30+ acre improvement to the site including a 700+ space employee and visitor parking lot. The project included a new entry to the below grade plant floor.
The project created a new customer experience and gave the plant a front door for 900 employees and guest, all while adhering to the modern steel and glass language of the building. Extensive BIM modeling was utilized for the entry providing Cummins with 360 degree renderings of each space enhancing design review with the client.
